What is Westside Life Coaching?
Westside Life Coaching is a life and well-being mentorship service that supports you to identify your strengths and skills which will help you to take stock of the barriers that appear to be preventing you from reaching your chosen goals.
How does it work?
This is done through conversation and exercises with me, your mentor, either on-line or in-person. It involves completing homework that will be set and ensuring that you are defining your own path. You will discuss your desired time-specific goals/outcomes and be fully involved in designing the interventions that you will apply. I will assist you to achieve this.
What sort of goals or outcomes might I be able to support you with?
You may wish to look at developing your self-confidence in everyday life, and how improving it may help you in either a specific/various ways. You may wish to take a tour of the country but don’t see yourself having what you think it takes to do so alone, or you may need help with organsing elements of your life. To list every possible goal is impossible because everyone has their own strengths, their own perceived barriers and their own ambitions.
Is it like counselling?
Counselling is a regulated profession. Some elements of counselling, such as unconditional positive regard (being non-judgemental) and client confidentiality are paramount to my service, counselling (for example: to help you to process or to recover from trauma) is not what I offer. If I feel that an alternative type of support would be more appropriate, I will let you know, as signposting to other suitable services is part of what I will do for you.
How long will it take and how much will it cost?
The idea behind using a strengths-based outcomes model is to set achievable goals against time. This means that my mentorship service is not meant to simply continue indefinitely. Some of my clients find that 3 sessions are sufficient for what they require; others may require 6.
Prior to becoming a client, it is prudent to have a conversation with me to see if life coaching is suitable for you. If it is, I will send some information for you to read prior to our agreed initial appointment.
A typical example:
Pre-service discussion – Duration usually up to 15 minutes, no charge. Information sent.
Meeting 1 – Duration 30-35 minutes; cost £35 on-line/£60 in-person. We discuss your goals/desired outcomes and perceived barriers. Resources are emailed and homework is set.
Meeting 2 – Duration 30-35 minutes; cost £35 on-line/£60 in-person. 1 or 2 weeks later. We review your homework and discuss progression/other goals/outcomes. Resources are emailed and homework is set.
Meeting 3 – Duration 30-35 minutes; cost £35 on-line/£60 in-person. 1 or 2 weeks later. We review your homework and discuss the next step(s). Consider a 4th meeting of the same duration or a 15-20-minute check-in? Resources/homework are emailed.
Check-in 1 – Duration 15/20 minutes. Cost £20 on-line/£40 in-person. 1 or 2 weeks later. How are things? Would you like another check-in, or do you no longer require the service? Resources are emailed.
Check-in 2 – Duration 15/20 minutes. Cost £20 on-line/£40 in-person. 1 or 2 weeks later. How are things? Would you like another check-in, or do you no longer require the service? Final resources are emailed to you to continue your journey independently.
How or where do we meet?
On-line we could meet using Google Meet or a platform of your choosing. An invitation/link will be sent in advance. Via this platform, I would be able to offer greater availability and flexibility.
In-person we could meet in one of three places: your home, a neutral venue (with due consideration to the nature of your topics and the need for confidentiality) or at my home in Crookes, Sheffield S10, although availability here would, generally, be less than the other options available.
How is payment for the service made?
I will send you an invoice in advance of any subsequent meeting. Payment is to be made by bank transfer and is required at least 24 hours prior to our meeting. If payment is not received, the meeting will not take place.
What is my availability?
My availability varies (days/evenings/times) due to current bookings and we will discuss this prior to our first meeting.
